JavaLite lets you open a Java file or folder, write code, then compile and run it in the same window. It uses the JDK you already have installed, with no account, cloud service, extension marketplace or telemetry.
The first launch lists the JDKs it finds and lets you choose another folder. Nothing is downloaded for you.
Run a file or a folder project, then read output and type program input in the console.
The Problems panel takes you to the location of each compiler message.
Browse files and open editors, and create, rename or move items to the trash.
Basic mode works offline with no language server. Optional Smart mode adds suggestions and live errors through a JDT LS you install yourself.
Saves replace files atomically, and recovery snapshots keep unsaved documents between sessions.
