Mechanical keyboard sounds for your everyday typing.
Utilities · John Lerry Taruc · Updated Nov 2, 2026
KeyVibes plays recorded mechanical switch sounds as you type, on Windows and Linux. Try each switch without granting any access, then choose which keyboards it follows. It works offline, with no telemetry or sound downloads.
Blue, Red, Brown, Black, Silent, Creamy, Thocky and Topre-inspired, built from KBSim recordings by Thomas Lai.
Hear any switch before you allow KeyVibes to follow your keyboard.
Global sounds stay off until you agree and pick a device, and you can revoke that consent at any time.
No typed text or key sequences are recorded or sent anywhere. Pause before entering passwords, since password fields in other Wayland apps cannot be detected reliably.
Set the sound level, the release sound and the output device, with natural variation between keystrokes.
Launching at login, staying in the background and starting sounds automatically are all optional.
